Best Green Careers

Author – Published: 2010 by Learning Express. Best Green Careers is a career guide for workers looking to get involved in environmentally-conscious and sustainable jobs. Over the course of five months, I conducted an exhaustive survey of the green economy, researching topics such as the history of the environmental movement, current advances in green technology, and sustainable tech job opportunities across the U.S. In addition to job information about green tech industries, I also researched and wrote chapters on general job search information, including resume writing, networking, and cover letter writing. I wrote the book in an easy-to-read, engaging style to appeal to workers just entering the job field and veteran workers looking to make a career change.

Magazines

The Current Events

The Current Events is a biweekly newspaper that is used in elementary and high schools around the country to teach kids to be interested in the news. It’s a cool project and one that I’m proud to have been a part of since 2009. The paper comes in four different editions based on reading level, from 1A (3rd-5th grade) to 2B (11th-12th grade). I write original pieces for all levels and often adapt stories for younger or older audiences.

Scholastic Choices

In 2008, I became a regular contributor to Scholastic Choices, a health and life skills magazine for high school readers. For each article, I interview high school students and experts in various fields to create compelling stories that teens can relate to. I also create topical quizzes, sidebars, and learning activities related to the article topics.

Other Educational Work

Since 2003, I’ve been writing and editing assessment test preparation material for many prominent educational publishers, including The Princeton Review, Kaplan, McGraw-Hill, and Mindspring. I have written targeted passages and questions for many state and local school districts around the country. From time to time, I have also worked closely with school board representatives to ensure my work addresses the needs of their particular school district. I work hard to create entertaining, well-crafted fiction and nonfiction stories, poems, myths, and biographies that teach kids important skills to help them prosper in assessment-based learning environments.

Samples of my writing work for grades 3-12 can be found below. Please note: I often write passages under pseudonyms.
